Avenue Counseling works with a variety of insurance providers to help make therapy services more accessible for individuals and families seeking support.
At this time, the practice accepts select commercial and Medicaid plans through Anthem, United, and Sentara. Coverage may vary depending on your specific plan and benefits.

Self-Pay Options
For individuals who prefer not to use insurance or who do not have insurance coverage, self-pay options may be available.
Self-pay services allow clients greater flexibility and privacy when accessing therapy. Rates may vary depending on the type and length of session. Please contact Avenue Counseling for current fee information and availability.

Accepted Payment Methods
Avenue Counseling accepts major credit and debit cards for payment of services. Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) may also be used when applicable.
Payments are processed through secure electronic systems designed to protect client privacy and ensure convenience.
Coverage & Billing Information
Coverage and benefits may vary depending on your specific plan. Clients are encouraged to review their insurance benefits or contact their insurance provider to better understand coverage for outpatient mental health services.
If you have questions about insurance eligibility or coverage, we are happy to help guide you through the process when possible.

Payment for services is typically collected at the time of each session. If you are using insurance, Avenue Counseling will submit claims to your insurance provider on your behalf.
Clients are responsible for any applicable copays, deductibles, or balances not covered by their insurance plan. If you have questions about billing or insurance claims, we are happy to help guide you through the process when possible.

Appointments are reserved specifically for each client. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice whenever possible.
Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a cancellation fee. Providing advance notice allows the appointment time to be offered to another client who may need support.

Diagnostic Evaluation

60-90 Minutes
The initial session focuses on gathering information about your current concerns, personal history, and goals for therapy. This appointment helps determine the most appropriate approach for ongoing treatment.
Individual Therapy
$130.00
60 Minutes
A full-length therapy session that provides time to explore concerns in depth, develop coping strategies, and work toward personal goals.
Individual Therapy
45 Minutes - $90.00
30 Minutes - $75.00
Shortened therapy sessions, focused on addressing current concerns, developing skills, check-in’s or follow up support when appropriate.
Family Therapy
$150.00
60 Minutes
Family sessions focus on improving communication, strengthening relationships, and addressing challenges that affect the family system as a whole.
